Overview of Rastirya Janamukti Party

Rastriya Janamukti Party (National Emancipation Party) is a political party in Nepal. The party was formed in 1990 by the Janjati leader, M. S. Thapa Magar and Gore Bahadur Khapangi as the Nepal Rastriya Janamukti Morcha (Nepal National Janajati Liberation Front), following the Jana Andolan. The Front petitioned the constitutional committee, requesting a federal constitution.
In the 1999 parliamentary election, Rastriya Janamukti Party fielded 130 candidates. They got 92567 votes (1% of the national vote), but no-one was elected.
In the 2008 Constituent Assembly election, the party won 2 seats through the Proportional Representation vote.
In the 2013 Constituent Assembly election, Jham Bahadur Gurung was appoint from the party for Rupandehi-3 finishing at third place.
